Rosemarie Fiore Tempest Time Lapse Photo
New York based visual artist Rosemarie Fiore created this time lapse photograph. It was taken one frame per second during gameplay of the 1980’s arcade game Tempest.
Tempest is an Atari game and featured an advanced color display for its time. The game was initally meant to be a 3D version of Space Invaders making it one of the earliest 3D-like games to hit the arcade floors. These vibrant colors and the 3D quality do an amazing job of capturing the energy of the early 1980’s arcade games.

This a video made from the popular Line Rider online computer game. As noted on the video’s YouTube page – “It is a scenic trip through the magical world of Line Rider. Made with pre-beta 2.”
Line Rider, an online computer game, does an amazing job of capturing the interaction between the computer and a player. Based on a user-generated environment and a real-time render engine the game takes on a self-made movie quality when played.
Empowered with a digital pencil a player has endless possibilities. The player draws a series of lines that determine Bosh’s (the game character) fate. It is a linear game with at least a clear starting point.
These user-generated lines are the basis of original works of art. This video, Line Rider – Jagged Peak Adventure by UnConeD, is an example. If you are interested in seeing more there are endless others listed here on YouTube.
